Ambient TV
Turns the PC behind my TV into an ambient display and a hub for films, music and games.
The problem
A PC connected to a TV is awkward to use from the sofa, and when nothing is playing the screen shows nothing worth looking at.
What I built
A desktop app for a 4K TV. At rest it shows a wallpaper with weather, time and music. Press one button and a hub opens over it with films, YouTube Music and shortcuts to games and programs.
Ambient TV is driven by a gamepad (DualShock 4 or Xbox), a keyboard, or a phone on the same Wi-Fi that works like a TV remote: D-pad, search, playback, volume and power.
At a party, friends can scan a QR code and add songs to the queue from their own phones. They can only search and add, with no access to anything else on the TV.
